During January, we were off to a flying start and fully booked for STCW training with courses running every week through the month.
Our first batch of Maritime Casualty Cards were delivered - just contact us if you’d like more information.
Liz started her 5th year of running every single day!
Another busy STCW month with 3 courses in February.
Together with Impact Crew, we spent some time refreshing our mental health workshop course, ‘Stress Happens’ ready to deliver in March.
We also held interviews for potential new instructors in Chester and Coventry.
Liz took a tour of the tunnels at Dover Castle and was particularly interested in the hospital sections!
A busy CPD month as Liz completed an ISM Code Awareness course with M4S Maritime in Portsmouth, while Rachel trained as a Phlebotomist in Chester.
We started work with our new STCW client in Scotland.
We worked on the logistics of shipping medical equipment to new build ships in far flung corners of the globe.
Our first ever instructor workshop took place, introducing our new prospects to the team, to each other, and to our way of working.
Scenic Eclipse was in dry dock, the perfect opportunity for an overhaul of the medical facility onboard.
Finally, we delivered our ‘Stress Happens’ training onboard in Palma.
The month started with more STCW training around the UK and interviews for potential instructors.
We held a bites and stings workshop in conjunction with Marine Medical Solutions Australia – designed for the medical and expedition teams working on a new ship itinerary in Northern Australia and the Pacific islands.
April was the start of our partnership with MedAire.
Rachel headed out to Antigua and Barbuda for a working holiday where she carried out some training for the ABSAR medics and spent 3 days on the water with the team, supporting Antigua Sailing Week.
Another busy month of STCW training.
It was Liz’s turn to travel out to a Virgin Cruise ship in the Mediterranean.
Rachel completed a MIMMS (Major Incident Medical Management and Support course) and started looking at ways to improve our major incident planning. She was also awarded the King’s Coronation medal for services to search and rescue.
Meanwhile, one of our other instructors spent a couple of days on a superyacht in the Mediterranean delivering onboard training.
Halfway through the year and there’s no slowing down with more STCW training and first aid training for Dauntsey’s School students on the incredible 1913 gaff rigged pilot cutter ‘Jolie Brise’.

A really varied month with STCW training, onboard superyacht training and some of our instructors completing Train the Trainer Training with MedAire.
Liz refreshed her Offshore Medic qualification while Rachel delivered specific training on the management of TIAs and strokes remotely to a superyacht in the Mediterranean.
Finally we carried out some first aid refresher training for Wilson Halligan.
Most of the UK slows down during the school holidays, but we work in a global industry so STCW training carried on.
We also delivered some remote refresher training to the senior and medical crew of a cruise ship – covering chest pain, anaphylaxis, seizures and strokes.
Liz managed to squeeze in a holiday, leaving Rachel on 24 hours cover with the fateful words… ‘But nothing ever happens!’ Of course a lot did happen, so it was a busy few days supporting our onboard crews and shoreside teams.
The year is flying by and we had a great team day out at the Emergency Services Show in Birmingham. It was lovely to meet suppliers and contacts, both old and new.
Onboard Superyacht training took place and more STCW training, including use of our new online assessment process for the first time. This was followed by two days of strategy and planning for 2025.
Liz travelled North to observe a day of the world renowned ATACC course, while Rachel ran her annual sponsored walk for British Heart Foundation. Gordon's Walk has now raised over £25,000 for BHF since it started 5 years ago!
October saw one of our new instructors deliver emergency first aid at work training to a maritime client.
Liz attended the Warsash Maritime Colleges open day with her daughter, who’s interested in working at sea. Liz also attended the Naples Public Health Congress on Maritime Transport and Ports.
Over on the Isle of Wight, we ran STCW training and the courses for UKSA were revalidated by the MCA.
Outside of Red Square Medical work, Rachel ran an RTACC course for 17 members of Cheshire Search and Rescue team including some very realistic make up and scenarios.
More STCW training as the year drew to a close. Emerald Azzurra headed into dry dock which is the perfect opportunity to audit the medical centre.
Liz spent some time at the WEM Conference in Edinburgh, running a workshop on managing a mass casualty incident onboard an expedition ship.
We finished the year with… yes, more STCW training, including a new location at MSA in Portsmouth.
Rachel completed a GIC (General Instructor Certificate) specific to teaching in medicine.
And......all the final preperations were done for the launch of our new service in January 2025!
